Grazerlei is going East, or: The Mahlzahn-Family is planning to travel
... or: there is a reason for the English Version of my blog.
Now, that we've just settled into the house, have pretty much set up everything but the garden the Mahlzahn-Family is getting bored.
(Or so you would think)
This thing about settling down really is scary, when you think about it.
So it was a nice coincidence that Frank got an interesting and very welcome offer, which we discussed in detail, looked at from all sides, and then decided that probably in August, maybe a bit later, we are going to... travel for a bit.

....
Namely to China, for three years, ;-).
We've already got the kids signed up at their new (international) school, Frank and I will start to take Chinese lessons, and we are all really looking forwards to the new experience.

It does sound adventurous, but really isn't (or shouldn't be).
It's Frank's work that takes us there as so-called Expats -- and it's just perfect that the plan is to stay for three years, because that's just the time Mutze will need to get her internationally accepted High School Diploma.
So, really, it is a very welcome opportunity to just plunge in as a family before Mutze wanders off to study whereever she will want to go.

Woah. (Scary).

(Not) Only Nixon goes to China...

You all have a good day!
So long,
Corinna
Hi, Corinna-- My Uncle Paul sent me a link to this. Wonderful news for you and your family! What a great opportunity for all of you.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though I'll be in Europe this summer with Erik and the kids. I'm scheduled to teach a creative writing course in Paris during the month of June and then we're hoping to travel. If we head your way, I'll let you know. It would be fun to reconnect again after all these years!
Love that you're going to record your experiences here, auf englisch! :) My high school german is sorely inadequate. I will be anxious to hear all about it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteExciting news about moving abroad, what part of China are you moving to? It sounds like you are an adventurous family who will enjoy this new journey. We have really loved life in Tianjin!
